A committed communist from 1931, he fought in the International Brigades in Spain, served in the RAF during WW2 and was a teacher in China from 1948. He is survived by his wife, teacher and social activist Isabel, and their 3 sons Carl (in business), Michael (in education) and Paul (in media). Why is this autobiography available free on the internet for everyone?
