The Liberation of Beiping Beiping jiefang Ye Qianyu 1963, Beijing The city of Beiping (the Guomindang or Nationalist Party’s name for Beijing) is liberated by the arrival of the PLA, carrying flags and numerous portraits of Mao and Zhu De, a veteran of the Long March and commander in chief of the Eighth and Fourth Route armies.
