This poster combines two ideas: the
idealization of the Daqing industrial model and
the call for the unification of all Chinese
nationalities (note the romanization in
Northwestern minority script). In the late
1970s, a number of posters were produced to
highlight the ways in which minorities should
strive with the Han Chinese to achieve economic
development and modernization. In contrast,
earlier posters often depicted the Han Chinese
as benefactors, guiding and advising the
minorities.
